The government has formally requested the Government of India to lift its unofficial blockade on Nepal.The first meeting of the full cabinet held at Singha Durbar on Monday urged the Indian government to remove obstructions at the Indian side of the border and assist in the smooth flow of supplies to Nepal.
The cabinet meet requested the Indian government to remove obstructions after the latter continued with its undeclared blockade on the pretext of obstructions created by the cadres of the Madhes-based parties.
Cadres of the agitating United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) have been staging sit-ins at No Man’s land on the Indian side, thus blocking the vehicles carrying fuel and other essentials to Nepal.The meeting of the council of ministers also urged the Madhesi parties to become genuine to successfully conclude talks with the government
