Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has remarked that the government is ready to review the demarcation of federal sate borders, a key demand of the agitating Madhes-centric parties. He noted that it could only be a premeditated publicity if somebody says the consPM Oli said the current state of affairs has exposed our heavy dependence on a single country to meet our national needs. He underlined that the blockade has caused a serious humanitarian crisis in Nepal as it is struggling to recover from the devastation of recent earthquakes.
Hinting at the current blockade imposed by India on Nepal, PM Oli said an inhumane move like imposing blockade in the 21 century is hard to imagine. He added that the economic impact of blockade has surpassed the loss due to recent earthquakes by several times. “Nepal is facing the crisis which should not happen even during the times of war. The blockade has understated the spirit of Nepali and Indian people,” said Oli, saying that he was taken aback when Indian authorities halted the supplies even from the entry points without security challenges.

He called on the Indian government to lift the blockade at Nepal-India border crossings at the earliest, saying that such blockade is against international treaties and pacts.He drew the attention of the agitating parties towards the crisis that has been taking its toll on the general public and urged them to call off their strike and sit for talks.He added that Madhesi people are hardest hit by the current agitation and unofficial blockade.PM Oli made it clear, like all other issues, the concerns of Tarai/Madhes are common issue of all Nepali people. He said the genuine demands of Madhesi parties would be addressed through constitution amendment.
