Queen Elizabeth in Kathmandu DR Nepal


The population of Nepal’s capital Kathmandu was 1 hundred thousand only when the queen of Britain Queen Elizabeth visited Nepal in 1961. At the time the queen’s plane landed on Gaucharan of Kathmandu. King Mahendra on the other hand wet to greet the queen in Royal attire. Despite limited facilities and sources Nepal greeted and welcomes the queen in a very grand way.

Queen Elizabeth and her husband Phillips went for hunting along side King Mahendra. As seen in the video, the hunting was done in a very grand way. 327 elephants were used just for the sight seeing of the tiger. The tiger was chased by the locals in an area and was later surrounded by white cloths. The queen and the king later shot the tiger and killed. The tiger was measured to be 8 feet 8 inches long. Similarly the queen also went to hunt a rhino. As seen in the video the tour to Kathmandu of queen Elizabeth looked very pleasing.

Similarly while red carpet was also kept at Gaucharan for the queen. later the queen even met the warriors of Nepal who fought in the Anglo-Nepal war. The queen was looking at all the medals and badges which were being bared by the soldiers.
