The main opposition, Nepali Congress has decided to adopt utmost flexibility regarding the issue of state delineation during the meeting scheduled to be held on Wednesday with the agitating Madhesi Morcha.A meeting of the NC officials and influential Central Committee members held on Tuesday decided to this effect.Earlier, the NC had been prioritising the two amendment bills tabled by party at the parliament.
The main opposition party agreed to discuss the issue of state demarcation after the Madhesi Morcha leaders, demanding a package resolution deal, pointed out that the current crisis could not be resolved only through constitution amendments.
“We are discussing multiple options and are yet to decide. NC will come up with its opinion after hearing the proposals of government and its coalition partners,” said NC spokesperson Dilendra Prasad Badu, “We should not stretch the Tarai-Madhes crisis. We are stressing on the resolution of crisis including the issue of state delineation through talks and dialogue.”The NC has been proposing to resolve the state demarcation issue through Federal Commission or through referendum in the disputed district.
