CIAA Chief Commissioner Lok Maan Singh Karki commits to continue the investigation at any rate irrespective of the consequences he will have to stand for

Chiranjeevee Pokhrel, DC Nepal, Thursday, December 10, 2015 – In a program organized on International Anti-Corruption Day, Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) Chief Commissioner Lok Maan Singh Karki has committed to continue the investigation of abuse of authority at any rate irrespective of the consequences he will have to stand for.

Last year out of the 3,000 filed cases, only 300 were found guilty and sent for the punishment under the prevailing law. As the data shows all the accused are not criminals, CIAA says the people not to be afraid of the accusation without any crime.

CIAA has informed that the Commission is operating through ten more branches except the central office at Tangal, Kathmandu. CIAA has been facing the complaints against excuses to the major-corrupts and sue to minors. However the Commission has assured that the major-corrupts will also come under the legal provision at right time. The Chief Commissioner has given word that there will be equal treatment to all the fish in the sea equally; however, he is waiting for the right time, according to his words.

In a question - ‘When will CIAA investigate the Maoist camps?’, the Chief Commissioner says he will answer at right time CIAA has assured, without any genuine reason, in hunch, the commission is not going to be unfair over anybody. CIAA has informed that the commission is monitoring the cases which are not under it like VAT and tax evasions through the concerned authorities.

In the program, Chief Secretary DR. Som Lal Subedi said that the corruption would not be eliminated until the starting of professionalism and political cooperation; however, if professionalism is initialized and political support is given, obviously, we can meet our goal. Due to Local agencies without people’s representatives and unstable political condition also, corruption is rocketing, according the Chief Secretary.
