Teenagers fall into river while trying a 'selfie'

Two teenage girls in Nepal fell into the mighty Narayani River while trying a selfie on the bridge. The victims, 16 year old Namrata Sapkota and 18 year old Smita Gyawali, were apparently too engrossed in taking pictures of themselves on their mobile phones Sunday afternoon when the tragic incident occurred, our Kathmandu correspondent said citing reports.
Ms Sapkota has been rescued alive by police while Ms Gyawali was swept away by the river. It is understood authorities hold grave concerns for the missing girl. Both are locals of Chitwan district, the site of the bridge. Chitwan District Police head SSP Basanta Bahadur Kunwar told local media that teams of Nepal Police, Armed Police Force and locals are carrying out search operations for Ms Gyawali. southasia
