Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and Indian PM Narendra Modi held telephone conversation on Monday evening about the unrest in Nepal’s Terai region and the difficulties posed by Indian blockade.

During the conversation that lasted about 25 minutes, PM Oli drew the attention of his Indian counterpart about the difficulties in procuring supplies from India, according to the press statement issued by PM Oli’s press advisor Pramod Dahal. PM Modi in response said he was aware about the suffering of Nepal and stated that there will be no problem from the Indian side in the supplies of fuel and other products. He also expressed India would extend full support in resolving the problem at the border.
The statement says that the conversation also dwelt on solving the problems that have surfaced in the bilateral relations of the two countries through mutual understanding.
PM Modi also expressed concern over the death of an Indian national during clash between demonstrators and police in Birgunj on Monday. PM Oli responded that the incident occurred as the security forces opened fire for self-defense after clash turned violent, and expressed sadness over the death.
