Revolutionary poet Ujjwala Maharjan ‘Kali’

Word Warriors Nepal is an organization that promotes people to f!*ght against tor^ture and mole$t*ation that they are going through. The organization previously organized a program called No Matter the Wreckage: Sarah Kay in Kathmandu on December 27, at the Alliance Francaise. The program was a medium to reveal the mole$t*ation that women and girls go through. The aim of the program is to make woman stronger and the mental and physical trauma that girls have to go through.
One of the program openers of the program was Ujjwala Maharjan. She is a modern revolutionary feminist poet. But she is not an ordinary ste*reotyp!cal port. The currently popular YouTube poet adds a bit of r@pp*ing in her port too.

In the program she performs her poem ‘Kali’. In the poem the word is used in many means. She uses it as a way how men te@se girls also as goddess Kali who is the symbol of will and power. The poem starts with she, her sister and her friend walking through thr streets. Suddenly she hears a very not*orious song being hu*mmed from the back which was from her friends. Despite being younger than her her friend was getting more attention since she had more developed body. She got jealous and and wished she also had someone who would sing for her.
But as she grew up she did not like the way she was tea*sed. At beginning it was funny but later it only got more awkward. In the poem she also talks about how a man with spectacles pinched her sister’s che$t and all she could do was say ‘ouch’. She also adds many such similar molestation incidents that girls face that either be in her house, streets, public vehicles and crowds.

According to the poet she got inspired to write the poem when she heard a r@*pe story from one of her colleagues. Later she again heard how a father r@p*ed his own daughter. This traumatized her and made her think about living. That is when she was against it and wanted to do something about it with her poetic skills.
